One of the largest temples in South East Asia and a centre of Hinduism for the North Indian community of Malaysia, Shree Lakshmi Narayan Temple was established in 1919 in Gombak Lane in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.Construction of a new temple premises began during the late 1970's and in 1982 mark the official opening of the Shree Lakshmi Narayan Temple. At the front of the temple entrance on the ground floor, there is a specially built havan kund.The main prayer hall is located on the first floor and is accessible either by a set of stairways or an elevator.On the ground floor of the temple premise, the altars of Navgraha and Maa Kali are situated opposite to each other across the foyer. The temple premise has a multi-purpose hall which recently underwent renovation works to improve its marketability. The hall is an ideal venue for weddings, discourses, youth and motivation camps, religious seminars and cultural extravaganzas. A Hindu Shop operates within the temple premise on the ground floor. Run by the temple youths, it is a one-stop shop catering to the needs of Hindus with prayers' items such as incense sticks, mini-statues, flowers, devotional cassettes and CDs, and many other items. It is open on Sundays from 10.30am till 12.30pm.At the rear of the temple, a large dining hall and modern kitchen are located in addition to an extension of the temple called Bangunan Mira-Ishwar. The extension houses the Hindi School, Library, Staff Room and other multi-purpose rooms.The temple is open everyday to visitors. The opening hours are as follows:
Mon-Sun : 6.00am till 12.00pm (morning) and 4.00pm till 8.30pm (afternoon and evening)
